troubled diva: FAQ

So, troubled diva, who are you really?
My name is Mike.

Yes...and?
I'm 40 and British.  I work in IT in central Nottingham (boring old-tech mainframe stuff I'm afraid).  I live in central Nottingham from Monday to Friday, and in a village near Ashbourne, in the Derbyshire Peak District, from Friday to Monday.

Are you single?
Hmm, I didn't think it would take you long to ask.  No - I've been with my partner K since 1985.  He's MD of his own biotech company (nothing to do with GM food, I hasten to add).

Why do you call yourself troubled diva?
It was my nickname on Popbitch, thought up in a hurry, and inspired by the plights of Whitney and Mariah.  Do a Google search on "troubled diva" and you'll get the idea - journalists can be so lazy.  As for me, I'm not particularly troubled these days (far from it - life is sweet!), and any latent diva tendencies only become apparent at times of severe stress.

What rocks your world?
Currently: Jim O'Rourke, Ryan Adams, old 1980s electro/breakdance, The Gotan Project, Susheela Raman, Angie Stone, Shuggie Otis, Osymyso and all the "bootleg" stuff, and a whole clutch of pop singles (I'm getting back into pure pop right now).  I have been obsessed with music since the age of 9, and I seem to show no signs of stopping just yet.  John Peel is my role model in this respect...

Anything else you'd like to tell me?
Nah, not really.  I'm not much into these "all about me" introduction thingies any more.  A little mystery is a good thing, I think.  You'd do much better to dive straight into the blog and work it all out from there.  Or else look at this questionnaire which I put together in Spring 2000 (I got friends and guestbook visitors to ask me questions, and proceeded to answer them on my old Geocities website).

Right you are.  I'll be off then.  Thank you for your time.
Why, thank you for yours.  I like receiving comments on my blog - the more the merrier, in fact.  Please don't be shy - click on the comments links after each entry.  Or e-mail me direct
